The reality is staggering: Louisiana families are among the poorest people in America. Many of our clients suffer from a chronic condition of “not enough” which only perpetuates the systemic problems in families and the court system. People in poverty face challenges virtually unknown to those in middle class or wealth--challenges from both obvious and hidden sources. As you work with people from poverty, some understanding of how different their world is from yours will be invaluable.
